Flagship Chalet Manager - Val d'Isere

We are looking to recruit an experienced 5* chalet manager to work in the Best Ski Chalet in France which is our largest, most luxurious chalet in Val d’Isere. The property, although a chalet, is  the size of a boutique hotel and needs to be run as such, previous 5* hotel management is therefore essential. This role is responsible for every aspect of the chalet operation and for the performance of each of the 6 individual team members. The successful candidate will be required to speak French.

Area Manager - Val d'Isere

Consensio has an exciting opportunity this winter, overseeing the operations of the most luxurious chalets in the French Alps. This is a diverse and extremely challenging “hands on” role with responsibility for the operations and performance of our six chalets in the 3 Valleys and Portes du Soleil. The role will start in November and finish in May.

The key objective of this role is to support the chalet staff in providing a world-class hospitality service to their guests and to manage the processes required to ensure standards are upheld.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Director you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Arriving Pre-season (early October) to deal with resort set-up
  • Active participation in the pre-season training course including assisting in the planning & logistics and delivering some of the training modules
  • Dealing with ad-hoc guest  requests when escalated by chalet managers
  • Making weekly pre-arranged and spot check visits to the chalets to check service standards, including meeting with guests and completing relevant paperwork
  • Feeding back and working with Chalet Managers to help them improve their guest experience & chalet feedback scores
  • Liaising with specialists (often French speaking only) in order to deal with maintenance and technical issues within the chalets
  • Help and advise Chalet Managers on accounts procedures where necessary including monitoring the budget expenditure for food and major items
  • Ensuring general hygiene, health and safety standards
  • Drawing up the weekly staff plan and communicating to Managers
  • Working with the HR Manager on any in-season recruitment, employee relations and training needs
  • Liaising with chalet owners where appropriate to deal with any issues during the season and to hand-back properties at the end of season
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers to ensure the relationship with Consensio and our guests is working well
  • Closedown procedures and checks – paperwork checks /deadlines / making sure maintenance is finished / collection of Consensio property and correct storage of Consensio property / stock counting

Chauffeur / Host

The key aim of this role is to provide a resort-based private chauffeur service to all our clients with full responsibility for the Consensio fleet of resort vehicles. There is a particularly strong emphasis in this role on our clients’ safety and well-being. This role incorporates some hosting duties within the chalet to assist team in creating a 5* hospitality experience for the guests.

  • managing and maintaining the Consensio fleet of vehicles and garages

Housekeeper

Typical daily duties will include:

  • Clean all bedrooms and bathrooms in chalet
  • Re make or changeover the beds (Wednesday and Sunday changeover)
  • Hoover all bedrooms and bathrooms & stairwells / hallways
  • Clean the Spa area and check it’s stocked with soaps / gels / shampoos / drinks
  • Every few days clean all windows in the spa area and around the chalet
  • Clean and hoover central areas of dining room / living room

Financial Controller

Job Description

We are now looking for a financial controller/ experienced bookkeeper to join our office in Val d’Isere, France starting ASAP on a contract basis to the end of May 2017 on a contract basis. We will take care of your travel and housing arrangements in France and no visa is required.

You will report to the Financial Director who is also based in Val d’Isere. You will be mainly working independently so it is essential that you are self motivated and confident working to your own initiative. Candidates must have the ability to analyse data and report findings in an accurate and professional manner.

Main Responsibilities

Training Courses

  • To run the training course, training the chalet managers on all accounts areas the training course. Providing on-going training for current and new managers throughout the season.

Accounts

  •  Assisting and supporting the chalet managers with their weekly accounts.
  • Processing the chalet accounts packs on a weekly basis and providing a correct import journal.
  • Reconciling the chalet bank withdrawals and deposits against the French bank statement.
  • Ensuring client end of week billing is being processed correctly.
  • Ensuring all monies have been collected for the client end of week bills and reconciling credit card payments against the French bank statement.
  • Collating all accounts packs paperwork.
  • Ensuring all suppliers have been paid prior to the client’s departures.
  • Review weekly actual to budget figures for each chalet and feedback to area managers and operations team.
  • Assist the Finance Director with year-end and final reports.

Stock

  • Stock purchasing, allocating and recording start of season stock
  • Recording in season deliveries and allocating to chalets
  • Ensuring stock usage is recorded and at acceptable levels
  • Creating month stock journals for Sage

Administration

  • Administrative support to the chalets, area managers, operations director and financial director as required.

Skills & Qualities Required

Apart from a natural flair with numbers, other skills that are required for this position include:

  • Qualified or near qualified ACA/ACCA/ AAT
  • High level of numeracy and accuracy
  • Good prioritisation skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks 50 is essential
  • To be honest, discreet and trustworthy
  • Fluent English with conversational French (preferred)
