Departing from Paris, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is running its iconic luxury train to Bourg St. Maurice – the famous transport hub in the French Alps – giving travellers the opportunity to kickstart their Christmas holiday with a truly timeless experience. Soak up all the glamour and romance of the golden era of travel, as you head to the Alps in style. The carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express are all original from the 1920s – and travellers can choose between an overnight stay in a Historic Cabins, or the more opulent Suite or Grand Suite options (that come complete with ample living space and private ensuite bathrooms).

Sip champagne as you roll out of Paris, marking the changes in the French countryside as the evening sets in. Soon enough, it will be time to hunker down to a four-course dinner, with a choice of exquisite French food on offer. The train menu has been designed by world-renowned chef, Jean Imbert – who has been delighting guests with his wonderful dishes, all with a keen focus on utilising fresh seasonal produce. You’ll have a choice of dining cars, each with its own intricate and artful designs.

After dinner, stride through to Bar Car ‘3674’ for an unforgettable evening of cocktails and conviviality before retiring to your delightful Cabin or Suite. As you are rocked to sleep in absolute comfort – the train now making headway up into the French Alps – you can look forward to your first day up in the mountains – which will start with a sumptuous French breakfast onboard the train – served directly to your cabin for maximum comfort.

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express pulls into Bourg St. Maurice at 1 pm – where you’ll be whisked away up to your Consensio chalet, with the promise of a leisurely afternoon ahead spent settling into your chalet and exploring the resort. As you finish the seamless transition from luxury travel to luxury chalet life, you’ll have a bespoke meal, created by your private Consensio chef, to look forward to – and a week of unbeatable skiing to come.
