Davos Klosters – The Royal Winter Playground Opens in 1 Month!
Davos Klosters in Switzerland is the official royal winter playground. Favoured by the British Royal Family, there are even two chair lifts named after King Charles. Other royal family regulars include Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, and King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
During the Fifties Klosters was dubbed “Hollywood on the rocks” because its hills were alive with movie stars and their acolytes – Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Lauren Bacall, Gene Kelly, Greta Garbo, Peter Sellers, Truman Capote and Audrey Hepburn to name a few!
In 1978, King Charles took his first trip to Klosters, a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, with Lady Sarah Spencer whom he was courting at the time.
The now King then took (soon to be Princess) Diana, Sarah’s little sister on holiday to Davos two years later.
Throughout the 90s King Charles kept returning to Davos Klosters, turning ski trips into holidays with the children of the royal families.
King Charles continued to take his sons, Prince Harry and Prince William skiing to Davos Klosters throughout the mid-2000s.
In January 2006, Wiliam and Kate Middleton were photographed sharing their first public kiss at the resort, according to a 2007 report from The Guardian.
Renowned for its glamorous clientele and Michelin restaurants, Davos Klosters is discreet and perfect for the security-conscious luxury adventurer. It is also one of the most prestigious winter playgrounds in the world!
Its expansive slopes offer some of the best skiing in Europe with wide pistes, steep couloirs and huge half-pipes. For those new to snowsports, Davos Klosters is the best ski resort for children and beginners. With dedicated children’s ski areas, magic carpets, and valley lifts with easy slopes, children and adults can learn their first turns in the snow in a playful way.
Located in Davos Klosters is the phenomenal ski chalet, Tivoli Lodge. With 700sqm of luxurious, contemporary living space, in a quiet rural setting with spectacular views of the Engadine Valley.
Sleeping 12+3 guests, the seven individually styled bedrooms include a magical children’s room with three built-in, full-sized bunk beds and a two-story ice castle soft play area.
Start your day on the mountains by skiing directly from the piste just across from the chalet’s ski room. After, the spa awaits. Come and unwind in the steam room, sauna or jacuzzi. Alternatively, swim in the spectacular pool or relax on the loungers. Let your private chalet team serve you champagne from the comfort of the wellness area or even arrange an in-house massage.
For those who want to try something a little different on their holiday, Davos Klosters boasts two exhilarating sledging courses, a favourite of guests of all ages!
Tivoli Lodge has sledges for guests, and your Consensio chauffeur can drop you off at the lifts in the morning and be waiting at the bottom with a hot chocolate to warm you up at the end of the day.
Whether you are a piste person or freeride fan, beginner or an experienced pro, skier or snowboarder, the six skiing areas provide something for everyone, and the plethora of non-ski activities provide fun for all visiting Davos Klosters.
