The Best Luxury Chalets for Large Groups

Planning a ski holiday for a large group in the French Alps is about far more than finding enough bedrooms. It’s about choosing a place that brings people together, whether through long dinners around the table, slow mornings before the first lift, or the moments in between that define time in the mountains.

Across the French Alps, luxury chalets have evolved into private retreats designed for shared living. Generous spaces, dedicated teams and carefully considered layouts allow groups to move easily between time together and time apart, creating a stay that feels seamless and personal.

Why the French Alps Are Ideal for Large Group Ski Holidays

The French Alps offer the perfect backdrop for group retreats. Beyond world class skiing, resorts across the region have become some of the most desirable destinations, with Michelin starred restaurants, vibrant après ski scenes and experiences that keep groups entertained on and off the slopes.

There’s plenty beyond skiing too, from wellness and spa experiences to shopping and dining, making them well suited to families and multi generational groups.

For larger parties, private luxury chalets have become the preferred choice, offering space, privacy and a fully supported stay, with dining, service and every detail taken care of throughout.

From Val d’Isère to Courchevel and Méribel, these are some of the finest chalets for group stays in the Alps.

Chalet Marco Polo

Val d’Isère • 14 guests • 6 bedrooms

Widely recognised as one of the finest ski chalets in the world, Chalet Marco Polo sits in the heart of Val d’Isère, designed for landmark group stays.

The scale is intentional. Expansive living spaces draw people together with ease, from long evenings around the table to slower moments in the spa. A gold-leaf swimming pool, private wine and cheese cellar, and three treatment rooms elevate the experience beyond the expected. At this level, everything is quietly taken care of. Afternoons shift into treatments, drinks into dinner, each moment unfolding naturally, guided by a team that anticipates every detail.

Chalet Bacchus

Courchevel 1650 • 14 guests • 7 bedrooms

Set directly on the Belvédère piste in Courchevel Moriond, Chalet Bacchus is designed for easy, uninterrupted days on the mountain.

Ski straight back to the door, drop into the spa, or head upstairs where open living spaces look out across the slopes. Evenings tend to unfold slowly, moving from the table to lounge, then to the hot tub, Perrier-Jouët in hand, overlooking the piste. A full wellness level sits at the centre of the chalet, with a ten metre pool, sauna and hammam, plus a private treatment room for when you want to fully switch off.

Considered and refined, it suits groups who want exceptional skiing, space to unwind and a stay where every detail is taken care of.

Chalet Le Rocher

Val d’Isère • 14 guests • 7 bedrooms

Set against the mountainside in Val d’Isère, Chalet Le Rocher pairs contemporary design with a strong alpine feel.

The standout is the double height living space, vaulted ceilings, a statement fireplace and wide windows looking straight onto the peaks. It’s where everything comes together, from long dinners to late evenings by the fire.

Seven ensuite bedrooms offer plenty of space, with a notably generous primary suite. Downstairs, things shift. An indoor pool with jet stream sits alongside a sauna and hot tub, ideal after a day on the slopes. After skiing, everything is already in place. The fire is lit, drinks are poured, and the transition from mountain to chalet feels seamless.

Chalet Montclair

Méribel • 12 guests • 6 bedrooms

Chalet Montclair is a new addition to Méribel, set just above the centre with forest surroundings and wide mountain views.

New to the Consensio portfolio, it takes a more contemporary approach to alpine living, with open, light filled spaces centred around a guest facing kitchen, fireplace and bar. The layout is designed to bring everyone together, while still allowing for privacy across multiple levels.

A dedicated wellness floor with pool, hammam, sauna and treatment room adds a slower rhythm to the stay, while upstairs, living spaces are made for long evenings and easy entertaining.

Close to the centre with straightforward access to the slopes, it’s a modern chalet that feels calm, considered and easy to settle into.

Chalet Le Grenier

Méribel • 12 guests • 6 bedrooms

Set in the quieter Morel area of Méribel, Chalet Le Grenier sits just opposite the Morel chairlift, making access to the slopes feel straightforward from the start of the day.

Interiors by Nicky Dobree bring a more refined alpine feel, with a triple height living space that draws in natural light through floor to ceiling windows, framing the surrounding peaks.

Outside, a south facing terrace looks out across the mountains, a natural spot for long lunches or drinks in the afternoon sun.

Arranged across five levels with a lift throughout, the chalet offers a mix of open living and more private corners, including a separate games room for evenings in.

Chalet des Légendes

Val d’Isère • 12 guests • 5 bedrooms

Tucked away in Les Balmes, Chalet des Légendes offers a quieter, more flexible approach to group stays, just a short distance from the centre of Val d’Isère.

Interiors are calm and contemporary, with natural materials and open living spaces designed for easy time together. Artwork throughout the chalet nods to the figures who shaped Val d’Isère, giving the space a subtle sense of place.

A private spa with indoor pool, hot tub and hammam adds a slower pace after skiing, while the layout works well for mixed groups, with flexible bedrooms suited to both adults and children.
