COVID-19: What Are The Changes for Ski Resorts This Winter?
The French ski resorts have been busy this summer getting ready for a fantastic and importantly, safe winter season. We are delighted to announce that the resorts, lifts, restaurants and shops are open for business. France Montagnes has released a handy guide for what changes are in place this winter to keep French ski resorts safe, enjoyable and open! They remind visitors that skiing is an outdoor activity and equipment (gloves, skis and poles) is perfectly in line with social distancing. So, what are the changes for ski resorts this winter? On Public Transport
- Wearing a mask is compulsory before boarding and while on public transport (including airports, buses and taxis).
On the Ski Lifts
- Wearing a mask is compulsory in the queues and on the lifts (it cannot just be a snood pulled up).
- Contact points on ski lifts will be thoroughly cleaned every day.
In the Ski Hire Shops
- Wearing a mask is compulsory.
- All hired equipment is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between hires.
- Hand sanitising gel will be available.
At the Ski School
- Wearing a mask is compulsory when gathering at the beginning and end of class for everyone over 11 years old (this also includes the instructor).
- Masks can be removed once the lesson begins.

In Public Indoor Spaces and the Tourist Offices
- Wearing a mask is compulsory in all communal and enclosed spaces for everyone over 11 years old.
- Hand sanitising gel will be available for guest use.
- All surfaces will be regularly and thoroughly disinfected and cleaned.
In Bars / Restaurants
- There will be table service only.
- Tables will be at least 1 meter apart or will have a barrier in between to ensure safe physical distancing.
- Wearing a mask will be mandatory for customers when moving around in the establishment.
- Hand sanitising gel will be available.
- All surfaces will be regularly and thoroughly disinfected and cleaned.
In Consensio Self-Catered Apartments
- A safe, non-contact style service is offered.
- Sanitising and cleaning protocols have been upgraded.
- There will be daily thorough cleaning, implementing COVID safety policies.
- Consensio offers a fully-contactless service – staff will only enter with your permission when you are not there.
- Hand Sanitising Gel will be available throughout.
- Private concierge advisory service can assist with restaurant bookings/food delivery/private chauffeur bookings etc.
In Consensio Serviced Chalets
- A safe, non-contact style service is offered
- Sanitising and cleaning protocols have been upgraded.
- There will be daily thorough cleaning, implementing COVID safety policies.
- Daily breakfasts will be laid out and removed while you are not present.
- The dinner table can be set ahead of the evening should you wish to self-cater or order in food (most restaurants are adapting to ‘the new normal’ and are setting up quality cuisine style deliveries).
- A personal chalet manager is on hand to arrange your evening restaurant bookings on your instruction.
- A private in-resort 4×4 chauffeur is available during the mornings and afternoons.
